The Finest Hollywood Music Scores: “Pro Musica’s Associate Music Director Carol Redman remarks about living through the pandemic— “Since all my concerts have been cancelled for almost a year now, I’ve spent my evenings exploring a new interest—movies. I have to confess that in the past 11 months I’ve watched more movies than I have in the past 11 years! Part of my fascination with movies is listening to the music.”
Here are our Top Ten Beethoven Quotes: “You ask me where I get my ideas. That I cannot tell you with certainty. They come unsummoned, directly, indirectly. I can seize them with my hands, out in the open air, in the woods, while walking, in the silence of the night, at dawn, excited by moods which are translated by the poet into words, by me into tones that roar and storm about me till I have set them down in notes.” —conversation between Beethoven and Louis Schlosser (1822)
GRAMMY-nominated Santa Fe Pro Musica is excited to announce that our new artistic director, Anne-Marie McDermott, will be performing Live from the Lensic on Friday, October 16, at 5:15 PM! The 45-minute online performance opens with a “passing of the baton” from Pro Musica’s music director emeritus Thomas O’Connor to Anne-Marie McDermott. Then Anne-Marie assumes her role as an internationally acclaimed pianist and will perform works by Bach, Haydn, Brahms and a set of variations on Die Fledermaus.
“Hibernation is a covert preparation for a more overt action.”
